"
Moving Finger Press" is the author’s imprint, which means he started the company to publish People Farm. He plucked the name from the most-quoted quatrain of The Rubáiyát, whose try-and-stop-me tone is appropriate because certain people have suggested he take his story with him to the grave,The Moving Finger writes; and, having writ,
Moves on: nor all your Piety nor Wit
Shall lure it back to cancel half a Line,
Nor all your Tears wash out a Word of it.
The author derives comfort from the illusion that a trendy publisher snatched up his manuscript, perhaps during a bidding frenzy. The truth is that seventy-six self-addressed, stamped envelopes boomeranged back from top-drawer literary agents who declined the privilege of representing this work ("You must name names, because the market wants blood . . . despite the high literary quality, nonconsensual sex is wrong for the current market"), and from a few porn-fringe publishing outfits that accept unsolicited manuscripts (". . . awfully literary, and where’s all the nonconsensual sex promised in your cover letter?").
To purchase copies of People Farm for everyone you know, please visit your neighborhood independent bookseller and express shocked incredulity if they don’t yet carry it. Or, in a pinch, order it on
